A DAUGHTER has spoken of her heartbreak after her mum died two months after being diagnosed with a brain tumour.
Kim Newbold, a mum-of-two and grandmother-of-one from Kidderminster, was on holiday in Portugal in September when she started to get painful headaches.
The 67-year-old and her husband Phil, who she has been married to for 45 years, flew out on September 16 for five weeks.
But a few days later Phil called their daughter Sam about her headaches. Sam, who is a nurse, said she picked up on signals that something wasn't right.
Sam, aged 40, said: "My dad rang me and said she was quite disorientated.
"I said 'Oh my God get her home.' I had a feeling something was going on".
They immediately got a flight back to the UK and Kim was rushed to hospital where she had her head scanned.
"We went straight to Worcestershire Royal Hospital and in two hours they said she had a brain tumour," Sam said.
Kim was later diagnosed with a stage four glioblastoma brain tumour, an aggressive form of the cancer, following a biopsy, on October 22 at University Hospital Coventry.
She was given a maximum of 12 months to live with treatment, but Kim died on November 20, just two months after her first scan.
"It was all very very sudden, Sam said.
"We still can't believe it. She became so confused so quickly. She wasn't really aware of the situation.
"It's awful. We just can't get our heads around it.
"We cared for her at home as a family.
Kim, who lived in the Offmore area, worked in the Elizabeth & Giovanni hairdresser's in Kidderminster for many years and received a National Hairdressers' Federation award for 'Britain's best receptionist' three years in a row before she retired.
Paying tribute to her late mum, Sam said she had "the biggest heart and the biggest personality you could imagine".
She said: "She was always on holiday. We were in New York in January. We were in Benidorm in June.
"She was such a fun-loving person. Everybody always says she lit up the room. Everybody loved her".
Sam has now started a fundraiser for The Brain Tumour charity in memory of her mum, which has already made nearly £1,000 in a few days. People can donate to the fundraiser via GoFundMe.
Kim is survived by her husband Phil, children Sam and Daniel and three-year-old grandson Charlie.
