MORE than 300 Santas laced up their running shoes and hit the streets of Kidderminster for the 2024 KEMP Hospice Santa Fun Run.

The popular annual event on Sunday (December 1) has so far raised over £7,500 to support the vital work of the hospice, who provide compassionate care and support, free of charge, for individuals and families facing life-limiting illnesses, across the Wyre Forest.

Jayne Sargeant, head of fundraising and communications at KEMP, said: "We’re absolutely thrilled with the turnout and the incredible amount raised so far. This event is always a highlight of the year, and seeing the community come together is fantastic. We’re so incredibly grateful to everyone involved, whether they walked, jogged, ran, volunteered or simply cheered people on around the course. Everyone has done something amazing to support KEMP Hospice."

Sponsored by Talbots Law and Carrigan Events, the day featured a timed 10K race, a 5K fun run, and a delightful 1K Santa Dash for children.

A warm-up was kindly provided by Bewdley Bootcamp and SARA Water rescue were on hand to support the runners during the event if needed.

Kidderminster and Stourport Athletics Club were also on site to support the course set up and keep a log of the race results for those taking part in the timed 10K, which are now available on the KEMP Hospice website kemphospice.org.uk/santa-fun-run.

KEMP Hospice never charge for their care, but each year it costs around £1.7 million for their day hospice, family support and bereavement services.

The funds raised will go directly to support the charity and ensure they can continue to be there for the Wyre Forest community, and provide their services free of charge, now and in the future.
