I believe i may have spent too long out of town at work this week, it’s been an interesting week, locally.
There’s apparently ‘a time bomb’ in the town centre, (old disused telephone exchange building “a magnet for antisocial behaviour.” (Kids to blame of course)); Empty school buildings are being set on fire, (kids to blame); Arson at the sugar beet factory site, (er, kids to blame?). There’s an attempted robbery at a takeaway, (kids…oh, that ones a ‘youth’ at fault). Is there a trend in blame here?
You'll also find the usual hysteria about Tesco opening another supermarket; Parking problems all over town; Potholes large enough to swallow a whole car, (at least it will fill the hole). There are complaints about mobile phone masts again, (hands up who hasn’t got a phone then?) Oh yeah… and new toilets are being built in the town centre…costing more than most of our houses are worth. Hmm.
So what about YOU? Are you depressed due to an awful week at work, again? Sick and tired of being told what to eat and drink, how much of it and when? Had enough of paying so much tax to enable half of the country NOT to work? Sick of the guilt trip of global warming? (Yawn). Had it with being watched and monitored on every street corner, (except the ones where there’s trouble)?
Did you know that a telephone can cost less than a loaf of bread? Is it just me, or have things got a little bit…wrong?
Well, I’m sorry to say it’s always been like this, just reported in different ways and with different attitudes, social values, and ideals through the years. Let’s just knock down all the nice old buildings, lock up the kids, ban cars, stop British business thriving, and please, stop talking to one another so much. Instead, let’s do what the British do best, and form an orderly queue for the lovely new toilets.
