Two weeks ago Fozzie and I agreed, in a moment of weakness, to do the Wyre Forest 5K Run in aid of the British Heart Foundation. We did the same run last year, along with the manager, but this year Mark was unable to attend. However, this did not stop Mark from volunteering us both to do it in his absence. I was initially nervous about entering the race, but the fact that Fozzie was doing it as well meant that I would at least not finish last!

In the event, the run went very well. Despite not preparing as professionally as I would, say, for a football match (I’d had a couple of pints the night before celebrating our home victory over Grays) I finished fourth overall. Fozzie was further back down the field finishing just in front of the pantomime horse and just behind the man in the diver’s suit (he too had had a couple of pints the night before but is a bit of a lightweight!). We passed a bucket around the players’ bar after the Grays game and thanks to the supporters’ generosity we made a total of £75.16 for the BHF. Well, it wasn’t all the supporters’ generosity. I must give a big thank you to Iyseden Christie for contributing the 16p!

Back to the football and we are in the middle of a chaotic fixture schedule. We appear to be on a decent little run at the moment. We are producing some good stuff, especially at home, and have picked up some good wins. Away from home, our last 4 matches have been against Torquay, Aldershot, Stevenage and Exeter (before last night) and I believe we can count ourselves very unlucky not to come away with 6 points from those games.

Last night we had a great win at Crawley. This, of course was the fixture that should never have been postponed in the first place, and should never have been rearranged for the date it was. Four goals away from home (and 2 sitters missed as well) meant we left very happy indeed. A massive thank you to the supporters who made the trip down last night. For many of you it would have been the second such trip in such a short space of time. We really appreciate the support we get away from home and it is not something we take for granted. A couple of my friends, who are season ticket holders and travel away from home as often as possible, could not afford to travel to the game last night. In a week where they have already been to Exeter and have a trip to Cambridge still to come, a Thursday night jaunt to the capital was one step too far. It was great to give you something to cheer about last night.

Another tough game coming up at the weekend but we go there on the back of a couple of good wins and full of confidence. Hope to see you there.
Cheers
Neil
