At last! The possibility of a major overhaul of Kidderminster's public transport system. Together with a revamp for the Railway Station building.
This is long overdue.

Civic leaders want to attract more shoppers, day-trippers and longer-stay tourists to our area.
This in itself, warrants a better public transport system, particularly the shambles we call a bus service, at present.

There are so many timetable changes, passengers just can't keep up with them. To add to this, are late runnning or non-existent buses, which doesn't make for good public relations or services.
At this point, I have to say, that I have a real problem with the name of our bus company 'FIRST.' It should be renamed to the more appropriate 'SECOND' as in CLASS.

Would it be too much to ask,for a regular shuttle-bus service, to/from the Railway Station? Not a hit and miss system which operates currently. Maybe, even a free service, which would connect up with the train timetable. This would, of course, benefit tourists wishing to visit the Severn Valley Railway, whilst also serving commuters, shoppers etc. trying to catch their trains next door. Definitely, a win win situation.

My second request is.........
Can everyone who has any input into the revamp proposals, be made to use Kidderminster's public transport system, for at least a month?
First hand experience, beats talking and consultations every time.
How can you, the people who make the decisions on our behalf, possibly know, what it is like to use Buses/trains on a regular basis, unless you attempt to travel in our shoes.
In plain speak, get out of your cars and experience waiting in the cold and wet, for that bus which turns up late, or not at all. Or worse, is the cause of you missing your connection, and then having to hang around for anything up to an hour for the next one, which also turns up late etc.

Trust me, all you decision-makers on our behalf, it would open your eyes to the real world of those of us, on the receiving end of your decisions, who are forced to live with them.
