So with 23 players shown the red card on Saturday and I'm not saying that referee`s got every one wrong is football becoming a non contact sport ?
If i had a pound for every time some shouted at the referee "its a mans game ref" then i'm sure i could of retired from work by now.
I'm constantly reminded by my dad that "in the old days" a centre forward could put both the ball and the goalkeeper in the back of the net and get away with it but theses days goalkeepers are far too over protected by referee`s and i have to agree.
Now i'm not saying referee`s have got an easy job far from it, with today's modern technology they are under more pressure than ever and if the F.A are going to win their battle in the respect campaign then something has to be done to help.
I know there's a split between video replays but i can not see any other way to solve this mess and if it means that things are going to be put right then I'm all up for waiting for the 4th official to take a look at whats happened this way its equal for everyone.
Watching last nights match of the day Hull City boss Phil Brown was complaining his side should of had a penalty and that if it had been outside the box they would of got a free kick for it, this is all wrong and video replays would put this right once and for all.
I'm all up for referee`s getting the respect they deserve and so they should but i feel they are not getting the help they need so until this happens i can never see it improving in a game that's getting faster and more technical by the season.
Referee`s are under so much pressure that decisions are going to cost some clubs millions of pounds with relegation being so costly these days ands its understandable why so many players and managers get frustrated by whats going on during the game.
Yes its a great talking point for fans travelling home after a game and I'm sure most of us have been on the wrong end of a referee`s decision but there's no feeling like leaving a football ground being hard done by a referee`s mistake that's cost your team points.
In an ideal world things will be put right once and for all but in the real world i can not see this happening for a long time leaving us feeling hard done by week in week out.
Still its only a game !
But to fans its still life or death.
