MY head is telling me that getting thrashed by the Australians in the one-day series is a bad but the heart says something completely different...
England have been pretty ordinary with the bat and have allowed the wounded Aussies to recover a bit of pride after losing the Ashes with some victories.
That's just it, after winning back the little urn from our Antipodean adversaries, I couldn't care less if we got whitewashed 7-0 (of course, being a totally fickle sports fan, my thoughts might change if that actually happens).
But for me it was mission accomplished the moment the Australians started running themselves out like a third team playing in the Worcestershire Sunday League (no offence to anyone playing at that level) at the Oval.
In the post victorious glow, which is set to last until we go to South Africa, I can't muster the emotional disgust at the disappointing performances by the likes of Luke Wright and Ravi Bopara.
I know I should. My veins should be popping out every time Andrew Strauss looks clueless after a match.
My blood should boil when some Australian youngster not deemed good enough to get into the test team smoothly builds up the runs but I don't give a flying fig.
Because we've won the Ashes!
THOUGHTS ON HARRIERS
NOT being one to step on the toes of Shuttle Online's very own Harriers bloggers, I just thought I'd stick my own ten pence in on several Aggborough topics.
First off, there's been a lot of talk about the fans and the atmosphere at Aggborough.
Fans are entitled to express their views on the team in anyway they they like, it's their right as paying customers, but the home crowd's support against Mansfield was excellent and I suspect made a big difference.
It's hard to tell how they are going to fair this season - so far we've witnessed good (Mansfield), bad (Salisbury) and indifferent (Hayes and Yeading). Tuesday night's win could be a watershed moment - if the players use it to get a good result at Histon then all the better.
If they lose, don't lose heart Harriers' fans, there's still time for your team to get it right.
