Although last nights world cup qualifier game was as they say a "dead rubber" it still gave some of the squad players a chance to shine and remind coach Capello they are ready and available to be called upon as and when required.
Yet again David Beckham came on and showed not just fans but everyone who keeps saying hes finished as an international player that he has to be on that flight to South Africa next year without a doubt with 30 minutes of yet again quality proving he is one if not the best passers of the ball we still have to offer.
Even though he will be 35 when the finals arrive Beckham still has something to offer the squad, people say just his presence is enough but i disagree with that statement, yes he is a player i would want around to rally the troops so to speak but last night he showed why he has to be picked.
Now im not saying he should be in the starting 11 when they line up for the first game but in David Beckham Engalnd have another option to bring on to spark the team into action when needed or like last night just to close out a game and secure the result.
Forget the fact hes not got pace because Beckham himself will agree hes never been blessed with any during his career although i do agree he needs to be playing back home in Europe at a better standard and by the looks of it will be returning back to Milan on loan as soon as he has finished his season with L.A.Galaxy.
Im going to admit im not a great fan of Peter Crouch but his record speaks for itself when playing for England but like Beckham hes also an option if things are not going right on the pitch.
I would like to finish by saying i went to watch my son play football for Bewdley high school on tuesday and was impressed by a couple of the players that stood out on the pitch it was an entertaining game that finished 2-2 and the point im making is i just hope that Harriers are looking around for young players in the wyre forest area as i feel these lads given the right coaching could go on to bigger and better things if given the chance.
