FITNESS fanatics raised more than £4,000 for the Millbrook Suite when they put all their energy into a three-hour aerobathon.
The event was organised by Sandra Todd, owner of the Rosemary Conley Diet and Fitness Club, in Kidderminster and £4,300 was collected for the appeal.
About 50 people took part in the aerobathon, which was held at Kidderminster Town Hall, on September 27.
Six aerobic routines were put together by Mrs Todd and instructors, Katie Tomkins and Vicky Lisseman.
There was also a raffle on the day, with more than 30 prizes donated from local businesses, including gift vouchers, flowers and champagne.
Mrs Todd said: “I chose to support the Millbrook Suite at Kidderminster Hospital by holding this event because it is very close to my heart.
“My aunt has just gone through chemotherapy and is now going through radiotherapy.
“Members of my club and friends and family have all benefited from the work of the suite.
“I wanted to do an aerobathon for a charity and decided to do it for a charity that’s in our community.”
The 31-year-old added that the aerobathon was “very successful” and she was pleased with the amount of cash raised.
“The aerobathon was absolutely amazing,” she said, “The atmosphere was fantastic.
“We were all amazed by how everyone just kept going and did not stop for the whole three hours.
“We had people as young as 10 and as old as 80 take part, which was fantastic.
“I want to try and do one every year now as this one went so well. I didn’t expect to raise the amount that we did. I just wanted to get £1,000. I was absolutely amazed because people had to go out and get their own sponsors.
“The raffle, alone, raised more than £500. I would like to thank all the local businesses for helping make this day so special and for helping raise funds for such a good cause.”
