A HORSE racing night organised by a Kidderminster fund-raiser has generated £900 for the appeal.
Mark Searl set up the event at the Aggborough Suite at Kidderminster Harriers with the help of tool shop Hire It, which sponsored the evening.
“It was a really good night,” he said. “We had nearly 100 people turn up and to raise that kind of money was great - it was all down to the people there.”
A former commercial manager for the Harriers, Mr Searl started a charity last year called Thinking of Others.
He explained: “Through this charity I try and organise events to raise money for different causes. I don’t have any connection to the Millbrook Suite but I know that it’s a local charity that needs our support.”
Mr Searl gathered £350 for the appeal earlier this year with a golf day and raised £600 for Worcestershire Special Olympics in 2008.
He now hopes to help other good causes in the same way he has boosted the Millbrook Appeal this year.
“A lot of charities out there are struggling and they are organisations that we all might need to call upon at some point,” he added.
“Just look at the Millbrook Suite and how important it is to people around here - it’s a cause in our community that I wanted to do something for.”
