FOOTBALL has had a week where it has seemed more like the WWE with all of the alleged violence going on but clubs shouldn't be shy, they should sell tickets for such altercations.
Whether it's Tony Pulis and James Beattie's tete-a-tete, Jim Magilton versus his QPR players or the huge bust-up between Hearts and Hamilton Academicals, football violence seems to have moved from shadowy car parks (pre-arranged by 'firms') to the changing rooms.
Naturally, clubs are a bit embarrassed by all of this, but I say if managers and players want to sort out their differences with raised fists (or thundering headbutts) then at least do it on the pitch so all the fans can see. Club might be onto a money-spinner if they charge a bit extra for some post-match aggro.
Can you imagine the level of interest if Sir Alex Ferguson dropped the nut on Wes Brown? Or if Arsene Wenger drop-kicked Emmanuel Eboue? It's a definite ratings winner.
Christmas cheer is in short supply around the English club football at the moment and it's not just the week of manager/player attacks.
Notts County is up for sale, Steve Fallon has suspended at Histon and after a memorable night in the FA Cup at Leeds, the excrement seems to have truly hit the fan at Kettering Town.
Fans normally like to escape the stresses that the festive period brings by going to football but if the level of aggression continues to rise at its current rate, then there will be nowhere to hide.
It makes the recent drama at Kidderminster Harriers over Matthew Barnes-Homer's sale look very ordinary and not at all that bad, which in the scheme of things I suppose it isn't.
Harriers seem positively sensibly ran and in the current financial climate only the best run clubs will get through in some shape to continue.
