A GROUP of women have raised £1,400 for Kidderminster Hospital’s Millbrook Suite by posing half-naked for a calendar.
The friends and neighbours, all in their 60s, sold 280 copies of their calendar, called Fun in the Park.
Each month of the year is represented by a different woman, with some photos themed on events such as bonfire night, Easter, Halloween and Christmas.
Cheryl Mackinnon, of Blackstone, Bewdley, said: “We’ve had a good reaction and I think everyone really enjoyed themselves.
“There has been a lot of leg pulling but we haven’t had any negative feedback - everyone seems to like it.”
The Millbrook Suite Appeal - run by The Shuttle and the hospital League of Friends - reached its £150,000 total over New Year.
Donations made now will go towards extra equipment and the general running of the cancer unit, which treats thousands of patients every year.
Miss Mackinnon explained the group was inspired to get involved when two of their friends died of cancer last September.
She went on: “We were out one night and we were trying to think of something to do in aid of cancer and as the Millbrook Suite needs money we thought we would raise money for that.
“It started off as a joke that we would do a tongue-in-cheek calendar and then it sort of took off.
“We asked for volunteers and some of the ladies changed their minds but we got a few of us together and decided to go for it.“ Although it was “hard work” producing the calendar, Miss Mackinnon said she was “very pleased” with the amount raised, adding: “We are so grateful to everyone who helped and bought a calendar.”
