STAFF had an extra reason to celebrate at the Millbrook Suite’s re-opening when they were given a £1,000 cheque.
An open afternoon was held on Sunday for people to see the refurbishment that had been done at Kidderminster Hospital’s cancer unit.
The £1,000 was raised during Eddie Barry’s year as president of Kidderminster and District Catenians Circle.
He said: “I wanted to support a local charity and I know many people who have greatly benefited from facilities at the suite.”
The Millbrook Suite re-opened earlier this month following a revamp paid for using £150,000 raised by Shuttle readers last year.
The Millbrook Appeal was run by the paper and the League of Friends, who donated £100,000 towards the total £250,000 cost of the project.
The work means cancer patients can now be treated in more comfortable and modern surroundings.
