KAF10 got off to a flying start at the launch event on Friday when local VIPS attended Kidderminster Library Gallery for a glass of wine and a chance to meet some of the artists involved in this year’s event.
The Carpet Trades Musical Theatre Group treated guests to a sneak preview of their forthcoming show Boogie Nights which was a real treat.
After only a short period of rehearsal the group presented a medley of songs from the show. The full performance is at the Civic Centre in Stourport in October.
You can find more details at www.carpettradesoperatic.org.uk The first day of the festival, although a rainy day, went down well with Bernard’s Puppet Bonanza and the Town Criers Championship which attracted criers from all around the country in fine voice and in splendid outfits.
The Waiting Room opened its doors to a curious audience in the Swan Centre and is being received well by those who take time out to hear a moving soundtrack from local people about their experiences of waiting.
The installation will be in the centre throughout the festival where you will have a chance to meet the artist Sarah Tamar who brought the concept to KAF through the Dragons Den in 2009.
There is no charge for the Waiting Room and you will be given a very warm welcome by Sarah who is manning the door throughout.
Bangers and Mash Theatre delighted local children with Elliot and the Tooth Fairy on Tuesday at the Town Hall.
