The Club's Feburary speaker meeting featured two speakers - John Tweedale and Alison Barton, who spoke on their involvement with The Prince's Trust. John became a volunteer nine years ago after deciding to give something back and serve his community. Alison is now a Young Ambassador after receiving help with setting up her business in 2009 as a lifestyle photographer. This was something she had always wanted to do and applied to The Prince's Trust for financial and mentoring support, which she says has been invaluable. The Prince's Trust was initially developed and financed by HRH The Prince of Wales after the Toxteth riots in Liverpool in 1976. Since then 85,000 businesses have been started with the majority still flourishing. Here in the Midlands there are 500 volunteers with 35 full-time staff. The Trust has spend £2.5m helping young people from all sections of society.
