CHILDREN can be kept entertained over the summer holidays with time travelling fun at Hartlebury Castle.
A calendar of fun for the whole family has been planned at Worcestershire County Museum for parents looking to entertain their kids and preserve their pennies.
From August 2 to August 31, three different participatory activities specially designed with youngsters in mind, will take place every Tuesday to Friday between 10.30am and 4.30pm.
Each week will have a different historical theme, taking visitors through the ages, from dinosaurs right up to the Second World War.
Activities organised by Worcestershire County Council include:
Week 1 – Dino Landscapes, Fossil Making, Snake Mobile and Celtic Design.
Week 2 – Roman Arenas, Cursive Scripts, Saxon Brooches and Build a Castle.
Week 3 – Tudor Masks, Plague Pouches, Quill Pens and Samuel Peyps Workshops.
Week 4 – Victorian Scrapbooks, Greetings Cards, Make a Gas Mask and Parachute Toys.
The action-packed summer season will also include a celebratory family fun day on the August Bank Holiday Monday, 29 and a selection of the summers activities on August 30 and 31.
There is also more than 1,000 years of history to explore within the museum including a special exhibition on wartime Worcestershire.
Rachel Robinson, the county museum's visitor experience manager, said: "School holidays can seem endless and it can start getting really expensive keeping the kids entertained but a visit to the county museum is affordable fun for the whole family.
"In between activities, you can take advantage of our excellent café facilities or simply bring your own picnic lunch to enjoy in our fabulous grounds.
"Throughout the summer each week has a different historical theme, so families can visit more than once and be assured of finding new activities to delight and inspire them as well as learning something new."
