Under the theme Interesting People, Interesting Lives, Diversity of Skills the last speaker meeting of the Club’s year, Ruth Pawsey, reassured members and raised awareness about the work undertaken to protect Worcestershire from terrorism. Set up in the wake of the London attacks, local authorities are working around the four main terrorist factors of Conflict, Ideology, Radicalisation and Technology. In her role as Community Safety Co-ordinator, Ruth works within a framework for the prevention of terrorist events forming strong partnerships in the local community to identify potential risks.
Club members have been fascinated by the lives and skills of the year’s speakers, which have been interesting and diverse. Shirley Bonas, Denise Carson and Stephanie Ainsley have shared the role of President and will be passing on the reins to Hilary Thompson at the Club’s AGM on Thursday 5 April.
