STOURPORT schoolchildren hosted an afternoon tea party offering only Fairtrade treats.
Year 4 pupils of Burlish Park Primary School got baking for parents and carers using only Fairtrade ingredients.
Before the event, the children researched the products available, found and cooked recipes and designed a TV advert.
Teacher Rhian Duckworth said: "Year 4 Pupils at Burlish Park have been finding out about Fairtrade produce and how buying Fairtrade products help people like banana growers, chocolate, coffee bean and tea producers in other coutries The afternoon was a huge success with many parents supporting the event.”
Vi Higgs, school governor and Fairtrade member, worked with pupils explaining how more money from goods carrying the logo gets back into the hands of producers than from sales of other branded goods.
Mrs Higgs said: "I was really impressed with how much the children knew about Fairtrade. What was good was that many children were saying ‘my mom always buys things with that logo on' so they've already seen it.
"It's extremely important the children understand so they grow up with it and have been exposed to it."
