A PUPIL at a Great Witley school became one of the youngest published authors in the country at the age of 10.
Charlie Johns, now 11, attends Abberley Hall School and hopes to become a professional author in the future.
His book, “Bagpipe Island”, tells the story of shipwrecked bagpipes which fight to colonise a deserted island.
Charlie, from Letcombe Regis, Oxfordshire, said: “I have been writing short stories since I was seven and was inspired to write this book by the poem ‘The Bagpipe Who Didn’t Say No’ by Shel Silverstein.”
The book is aimed at nine to 12-year-olds and will be on sale at Abberley Hall School.
Sally Duckham, head of English said: “Charlie is a very talented chap with a great vocabulary and a huge sense of humour who has a creative mind with a fertile imagination.”
The youngest published author in the Uk was nine years old.
