KIDDERMINSTER'S Amy Smith ensured her place in tonight's 100m freestyle semi-final after a solid display in this morning's qualifying heat.
Smith finished fifth in a very fast sixth heat at the London Aquatics centre in a time of 54.37 seconds.
Overall, she finished 13th fastest out of the 16 who made it to the semis.
She will be hoping to step in up and make it to the final, with the penultimate round held at 7.38 tonght.
"It is harder to hear the crowd during the 100m freestyle itself, but when you are coming out for the heats it is amazing to get that support," commented Amy afterwards.
Great Britain teammate Fran Halsall had came second in the same race as Smith to ensure her progression.
