BEWDLEY sailor Alison Young produced a strong finish in her first Olympics today as she came fifth overall in the Women's Laser Radial.
The 25-year-old was in fine form in the medal race, at one point vying for first before dropping down to finish fourth.
That meant she ended the London Games in fifth place overall.
China's Xu Lijia won gold after a dominant display over 11 rounds and sealed her success by winning today's race.
Holland's Marit Bouwmeester took silver, with Belgium sailor Evi Van Acker taking bronze.
Young, who was a consistent performer through the 10 rounds and medal race, finished on 60 points.
