KING Charles I School students have achieved the highest pass rate in the school's recent history at GCSE.
Eighty per cent of pupils achieved five GCSEs at A* to C with 50 per cent gaining five A*s to C including English and maths.
Headteacher Tim Gulliver said: "This has been an excellent year for our pupils.
"It is a significant achievement and I wish to thank pupils, staff and parents for their substantial input in gaining these results.
"Very well done to all our pupils who achieved at or above their projected levels."
High-flyers Tegan Ransom, Tom Cadwallader and Kathryn Smithson achieved 20 A*s and 15 As between them.
Tegan, who gained eight A*s and four As, said: "I'm over the moon. I didn't expect to do so well. I'm not very good at revision, I find it hard to concentrate."
Tegan will be staying at King Charles for sixth form to study chemistry, biology, English and maths.
