A BEWDLEY restaurant has scooped a food award after chefs cooked up a treat for a mystery guest.
The Mug House Inn and Angry Chef Restaurant won the AA Rosette award after owner, Andrew Clifford, entered the scheme.
Staff were visited by a mystery guest who sampled some of the restaurant's specialities, including honey glazed breast of duck, before they were issued the award for the quality of the food.
John Townson, general manager, said: "We're extremely proud. It's quite a good achievement as we are the first restaurant in Bewdley to be given the award."
"We won the award because all our food is freshly cooked to order.
"Our food is presented extremely well and the service is of a high standard and it's consistently good.
He added: "I'm really pleased that we have been given the award because it is the highest award that can be given to a restaurant attached to a pub."
