WE write following an article in last week's Shuttle, which featured county councillor Nigel Knowles calling for more communications over the current utilities works in Bewdley.
Councillor Knowles (who is a county councillor for Kidderminster) should check his facts with the councillors who represent the area before making comment and misleading your readers.
We have all had regular discussions with Severn Trent, their contractor and residents at all stages of this major refurbishment of the water mains in the town.
We are fully aware of the very disruptive nature of the works and have been working very closely with Severn Trent and Worcestershire County Council to ease the disruption.
We also regularly communicate the progress of the works to local residents through our local newsletter.
We, as councillors for Bewdley, have made sure that the impact of the works is minimised as much as possible but the current level of disruption was unavoidable as the Government is making utility companies replace ageing water mains.
We have insisted, for instance, that no work takes place during the Easter holidays when tourists come to Bewdley.
Perhaps Councillor Knowles should tend to his Kidderminster constituents who must be feeling neglected, rather than try to score cheap political points over traffic disruption his Government is at the root cause of imposing on us.
