I WOULD like to add my support for the movement to keep the drop-in system for blood testing at Kidderminster Hospital.
The system works extremely well and requires a minimum of administration with no telephone calls or bookings.
Compare this with my recent experience trying to make an appointment through the new booking system for a consultation with a consultant following referral by my GP.
I received a letter and a costly, glossy booklet asking me to phone for an appointment. I was unable to accept the first appointment offered so I was offered another a week later.
When the clerk tried to confirm this the second date was not available. I then had to wait a couple of days whilst the computer settled down. But the second and third attempts both failed.
I then received at letter telling me that a consultant is reviewing my referral and, two weeks later, I still have no appointment. The moral is, if it isn't broken DON'T mend it.
