I WAS very sad to read in your paper of February 28 that the Harriers Football in the Community scheme may be forced to close.

This scheme has helped so many young people in the area with its varied activities and been a valuable resource for local schools, colleges and football teams. It is run to the highest standards.

I keep reading how the local council and other organisations want people to help our area. This scheme goes out to the heart of the community and is a great tool in our ever-increasing fight against youth crime and vandalism It helps to encourage the young to channel their energies in to sport so let's keep it going.
