I can understand arguments for Tesco opening a new bigger supermarket in Stourport but they are nothing compared to those against.
My biggest worry is that soon after Tesco's master plan is executed Stourport high street will be unable to support normal shops and businesses, leaving us with a town resembling somewhere like Weston-super-Mare with nothing but estate agents, amusement arcades, fish and chip shops, charity shops and shops that sell nothing but printed t-shirts and cheap trinkets imported from the Far East.
Tesco's expansion plans are not for our benefit. They are a business and have one main interest - our money.
They are not interested in the Stourport customers who drive to their store in Kidderminster, they want new blood, which they will probably gain by destroying the competition.
I don't understand the argument about saving the drive to Tesco in Kidderminster.
Is it laziness? Are you the same people who drive around Stourport's one way system 20 times until you find an empty parking spot when the Co-op car park has lots of spaces?
If the argument is traffic, go at a more sensible time or to Droitwich which is less than 20 minutes away, even at peak times.
