I FOUND the article concerning the closure of Wyre Forest Toc H most interesting (Shuttle, February 28).
It's the first explanation of its First World War origin that I have read.
I have heard about their charity work for the people of Wyre Forest, particularly their car service giving people lifts to hospital or doctors.
I would like to thank them for all their dedicated work, particularly Mr Stickley who presented the Toc H lamp to Canon Owain Bell for safe keeping at St Mary's.
May I add that their community service helping patients travel around the district is something I value immensely and, of course, Dial a Ride who provide an invaluable transport service for those in need.
I am aware of the continual funding problems experienced by our community transport providers in the county, and I have tried to involve myself in their efforts to secure continued funding.
I do think there is still a gap in our provision, particularly providing transport for Wyre Forest patients within the county, and indeed to places such as Wolverhampton and Redditch for hospital treatment.
I wonder if there is a need for a dedicated charity to provide this particular service?
