ALMOST £1,000 raised by an inter-businesses sports event was a net gain for a hospice for people with life-limiting illnesses.

Financial services company Prosser Knowles, which has offices in Kidderminster and Bewdley, staged its second mixed netball tournament, featuring men and women in the same teams, at Stourport Sports Club Netball Dome.

The cash generated went to Kidderminster’s Kemp Hospice.

Businesses which entered teams were Nexus Creative Limited, DWT Legal, Talbots Quality Solicitors, MFG Solicitors, the Hop Pole Inn, Thursfields Solicitors and Ormerod Rutter Chartered Accountants.

Prosser Knowles financial planning consultant Siobhan Record said: “We invited mixed teams to take part. People taking part don’t need to have previous experience, so ability was mixed but the level of enthusiasm and competitiveness was remarkable.”

In the final, featuring MFG Solicitors, which has offices in Kidderminster and Cleobury Mortimer and hosts Prosser Knowles, MFG eventually triumphed.

Ms Record said: “The whole event was great fun and we were very pleased to have been able to raise almost £1,000 for Kemp Hospice, a very worthwhile charity.”

She added: “We’re looking forward to doing it all again next year.”
