Thursday 4th August sees the celebrations of the 375th anniversary of the granting of Kidderminster's Town Charter. The festivities begin at 11am on the Town Hall steps with a re-enactment of the delivery of the Charter, and follow on with a mediaeval fair in the Corn Exchange. This date coincides with the 50th anniversary of the first Youth Group exchanges between our twin towns. A number of those from both towns who have participated in youth visits over the years – affectionately known as “Oldies” - will be here for the fun, as well as a party of civic dignitaries from Husum, including the Burgermeister Rainer Maass.
The Oldies programme varies from historic walk through Kidderminster to trips on the Severn Valley Railway and to the Black Country Museum as well as time to catch up with old friends. All the guests and hosts will join Kidderminster's Mayor, Anne Hingley, and Charter Trustees for the celebrations on Thursday 4th August in the town centre. culminating in a farewell party that evening. Oldies and civic representatives fly home the next morning.
