The meeting held on May 7 was a busy one.
Small brightly coloured teddy bears made by attendees at the last meeting of the Craft Club were on display and the next foray into the creative world with Suzanne Moule will involve the making of shabby chic flowers.
Katie Reynolds gave a résumé of the very enjoyable recent Group Meeting hosted by Far Forest WI and The Dorothy Ellis Cup Competition was won by Gwen Freeman with her beautiful handmade Easter card.
This year’s Resolution on the need for more organ donation was very well-presented by Irene Hoare who outlined some extremely interesting facts about this important issue and the resolution was supported by a majority.
During the Annual Meeting, the Financial Statement and Annual Report were presented very ably by Marjorie Whiting and Sylvia Tudor-Hughes respectively and Veronica Herridge has been returned as president for another twelve months.
She is delighted to continue and she thanked the ladies on the committee for all their support and hard work helping her to run Astley’s thriving, friendly WI.
The next meeting will be at Astley and Dunley Village Hall on Wednesday, June 4 at 7.30pm when Eileen Tasker will be speaking about the Talking Newspaper.
