BLAKEDOWN WI: The president welcomed all members and visitors, including members of neighbouring WIs, to our Christmas panto meeting.
Many thanks to June Gordon for organising the trip to the Bath Christmas markets - which we all thoroughly enjoyed.
The business part of the evening was very short - a reminder to read the proposed resolutions in the WI Life so a vote can be taken at the January meeting, and a request for a delegate to attend the AGM in Brighton in June.
After mince pies and carols we moved on to the much anticipated panto - a Blakedown version of Cinderella.
Doreen and June were hilarious as the ugly sisters - we love their acting - and their script was brilliant. Honorary 'male' members didn't stint in their performance either, they're very brave to wear Xmas pudding outfits. There was even a guest appearance by our local postie, Paul.
Kath was a very funny fairy godmother although her spell attempt at the transport for Cinderella didn't quite go according to plan.
All in all it was a fantastic performance, enjoyed by all. Many thanks to the cast.
The evening finished with another carol to send us home in Christmas spirit.
