ASTLEY HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY: The Spring Equinox on Monday 20th March 2017 will hopefully herald in warmer weather. Our gardens have already come alive with many bulbs bursting forth including snowdrops, daffodils, crocus, hyacinths and many of the flowering shrubs in bud. It is time to Springclean as Spring has already Sprung.
Derek introduced the speaker for the evening Ross Barbour. At one time Ross was Head Gardener at Ragley Hall, Ulcester but is now back helping to run the Old Court Nurseries and Picton Gardens at Welwyn Rd,Colwall 3 miles from Malvern with his wife Helen. She is a well qualified gardener in her own right with a First Class Honours Degree in Botany. They have the largest collection of michaelmas daisies in the world and Plant Heritage Collection of asters. Ross had come to speak about "Bulbs for the unusual".
