BLAKEDOWN WI: The president welcomed members, with a promise of a wonderful food fest. This was a thank you to all members who helped make the Produce Show last year such a successful event! The committee had produced a huge buffet - from faggots and peas to smoked salmon blinis - with drinks. Most of the food and drink was sourced locally and from artisan producers.
Business was brief - notice of a few forthcoming events - the AGM next month, an outing to the Flower Fields at Wick on 3 July, a summer trip to Cardiff in August.
There was then a performance by GR8 - providing musical entertainment, and singing a range of songs from an African Prayer to ‘Bring him home’ to California Dreaming - beautiful voices!
The last part of the evening was a sketch based on ‘If I were not upon the stage…..’ but cleverly adapted by Jan to apply to the WI.
