ARELEY KINGS WI: President Pam Sheward welcomed members and visitors to the meeting. She thanked the previous Committee for all their hard work over the past year.
Skittles team captain Ann Bailey reported that she had difficulty in putting a team together, and had to cancel the last three matches. Therefore it was decided to cancel the remaining matches for this year.
The results for the votes for the 2017-18 Resolutions were given to the members.
The treasurer asked if members who hadn’t already paid their subs to do so this evening.
The president introduced the speaker, David Mills, a local beekeeper. He brought a hive, without the bees, and gave us a very interesting and informative talk on the life cycle of the bee, and the beekeeping year.
Before the tea break, Pam reminded members that there were cakes for sale in the hall, to raise money for our WI.
A visit to Sudeley Castle is planned for June 13 and members were asked to put their names down for places. Family members and friends are also welcome to come along.
It was decided to start a small fund for ‘Get Well’ cards for poorly members as it is not permitted to use Institute funds for this.
A flower rota for the main table has been drawn up for each month and members encouraged to enlist.
