Nine members had the chance to go behind the scenes of the BBC Hereford & Worcester studios at Hylton Road on June 2 for a very interesting tour.
After being warmly welcomed in the studio by Tony Fisher live on air, the group met Mike Wyer and chatted to Janet Ellis, the former BBC Blue Peter presenter, who was recording an interview with him.
It was nice to put a face to traffic and news reporters, and see how all the strands come together in a radio show but the highlight of the day was meeting Mrs Posh, aka Anita Woodhouse, the producer and good friend of Worcestershire WI Federation chairman Julia Roberts.
On Friday June 25, the WI will be providing refreshments between 8am and 11.30am, in The Cricket Pavilion at Abberley Hall, for walkers reaching the 9½ mile point on the St Richards Hospice Annual Worcestershire Way Walk.
Members will be heading to The Birmingham Hippodrome to see ‘Calendar Girls’ on Monday, June 28 but tickets are sold out.
The newly-formed Book Club holds its inaugural meeting at The Elms at Abberley 9am on Thursday, July 1 to review and discuss Sophie Kinsella’s novel ‘The Undomestic Goddess’.
The next monthly meeting is on Wednesday, July 7 in The Howe Room at Abberley Hall School at 9am.
A Virgin Vie make up and skincare demonstrationwill be combined with a coffee morning with proceeds from the refreshments going to The Stroke Association.
