Rob Cole, from Meadow Farm Garden and Nursery at Feckenham, was the speaker at the April meeting.
A large and enthusiastic audience of members were enthralled by his talk entitled ‘Birth of a Dream’.
It told the tale of how Diane and Rob Cole created a lovely nursery and garden at Feckenham, with the building work (most of which Dthe couple did themselves), constructing raised flower beds, working out drainage, fighting the wet weather conditions, and at the same time holding down a full-time job.
Rob and Diane brought a sample of their plants for members to purchase. Members also had a plant stall where they could bring unwanted excess plants for other members to purchase in aid of the club.
Chairman, Pat Orme, announced that the plant for the competition at the Flower Show in September will this year be a fuscia and these were offered for sale in the form of plug plants for members to grow on for the competition.
Bookings were taken for the July outing to Ledbury and Hampton Court Gardens and also for the two evening outings, one to Rob and Diane Cole’s Meadow Farm Nursery in June and also one to Preen Manor.
The meeting was concluded with the monthly raffle.
The next meeting will take place on Friday, May 17, a week earlier than usual, at Belbroughton Church Hall. This annual event is a quiz between Belbroughton Horticultural Society and Clent Gardening Club, followed by a supper.
