Members met on a lovely sunny day for their June meeting and two visitors.
The speaker was the Revd Diane Cooksey from Blakedown who shared with us her faith journey. She told of the many vicars who had encouraged her, helped her to grow as a Christian and how she came into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. During her working life Diane was a schoolteacher in Handsworth for 10 years – a job she loved. However she gave this up to see what God wanted for her. This led to her studying at Bible College and being called into the priesthood. Diane is coming to the end of her time at Blakedown and everyone will be sorry to see her leave for pastures new.
The group then had a lovely cream tea in celebration of Betty Tarbuck’s 80th birthday.
The delicious scones and strawberry tarts were made by Ellen and were enjoyed by everyone.
The next meeting will be the annual outing on July 10, details as set out in the itinerary given to members.
