CHADDESLEY CORBETT GARDENERS’ CLUB: At the January meeting members and visitors were wafted away to a fascinating insight of Japanese gardens and panoramas by Duncan Coombs. The Japanese are noted for their patience and artistic talents and it was brought to the fore by their designers and talents of their gardeners. The notorious cherry trees were at their best for Duncan’s visit and the control of all plantings and growth was unbelievable. Most memorable was the English visitors crouching on the ‘moss’ lawns pulling out every blade of unwanted grass tediously by hand. What patience!
