Julia Scott, from ‘The Walled Garden’ in Worcester, came to the rescue as speaker for the August meeting after the proposed guest was laid up with a bad back.
It was a delightful talk on the history of the garden and how it has developed over the years. The evening was a great success, with everyone thoroughly enjoying the talk.
This year’s Summer Garden Show had some very good entries, despite the wet summer especially in the vegetable and flower classes. The club would like to say ‘Thank you’ to all helpers and exhibitors.
A raffle on the day and donation box raised £160 for the Air Ambulance.
The Vegetable, Fruit and Flower Cups were won by R Imgram, Barry Symonds, Harry Jenkins, Val Greenhill, J Griffiths and Austin Fletcher. Other winners: Cookery Cup: Aileen Hood. Handicraft Cup: Marion Cox & C Lloyd. Floral Art Cup: Marion Wilson. Children’s Shields: Ben Williams & James Sivell.
Speakers David and Pam Pittwood will give a talk on ‘Not All Leaves Are Green’ at the meeting on Wednesday, September 26.
The meeting will also include the Autumn Show.
The club meets on the fourth Wednesday in the calendar month at Clows Top Victory Hall. Doors open 7.45pm, for the speaker at 8pm.
Non-members are very welcome. However, if you wish to join the membership is only £5 pa.
