Edna Mills and members organised refreshments for a lunch to entertain visiting ladies from Canada whose families were billeted in the area during the war. Pat Pain and Edna Mills made a beautiful arrangement in Holy Trinity Church for their Flower Festival.
Edna Mills, Linda Davis and Cate Gillespie were nominated for Denman College bursaries being offered by the County Federation.
The WI reached made the semi-finals in the County Skittles Knockout and Tess Smith won the award for the highest individual scorer.
Members enjoyed a delightful outing to Stocktonbury Gardens and they will be visiting the Guide Dog Centre for the Blind on Thursday, August 15.
Speakers for this quarter were Steve Gillespie, magistrate, who gave an interesting talk on implementing the law, and John Carter, auctioneer, who valued various antiques brought by members.
Competition winners were Sheila Ward and Edna Mills.
The next meeting will be on Tuesday, September 10, at the Far Forest Centre, off Church Lane. New members are always welcome.
