President Val Evans welcomed Sylvia Perkins, WI advisor, to the May meeting, when she conducted the business of the AGM.
The Resolution regarding the decline of our high streets and town centres was discussed at length, with Lyn Bowen explaining the many issues both for and against the resolution. The outcome of the members’ vote will be sent to the delegate, attending the National AGM on June 1.
Sylvia Perkins also led the discussion and voting on the proposed changes to the WI Constitution , which will affect the National Federation, Incorporated and Non-Incorporated County Federations as well as individual WIs. This AGM is the first to be held in May, and the financial statement presented by the treasurer reflected this. Secretary Lyn Bowen gave the committee’s annual report, outlining the varied programme and speakers that members have enjoyed over the past 18 months. The president’s report given by Val Evans, together with the financial statement, were adopted.
Following the re-election of the committee, the voting for president resulted in Val Evans being re-elected. She thanked Sylvia for the excellent way in which she had conducted the AGM business and discussion on the resolutions.
Val also thanked everyone who had donated goods and helped at the recent rummage sale.
The outing to Holloways will be on Monday, June 10. Members should meet at Clows Top at 12.45pm for a 1pm departure by coach.
