President Val Evans welcomed a new member to the January meeting in Mamble Village Hall, which has now been beautifully refurbished thanks to lottery grants.
The first speaker of 2014 was Malcolm Jones who spoke on the life and times of Eleanor of Aquitaine. She was one of the wealthiest and powerful women of the High Middle Ages, having inherited a large part of SW France on her father’s death.
Next meeting is on February 10, at 2pm, in Mamble Village Hall, when Alan Stanley will speak about SARA, the River Severn Rescue. The competition is a “B” related item and there will be a trading stall.
