At the February meeting held in Mamble Village Hall, the president Val Evans welcomed members together with a new member and the speaker Alan Stanley.
An outing is planned for members and friends in June to the Elgar Birthplace Museum at Lower Broadheath.
The speaker Alan Stanley from SARA (Severn Area Rescue Association) the inshore lifeboat river, flood, land search and rescue, gave a very interesting and topical talk in the light of the present flood situation, much of his visual presentation mirrored the media news of the day.
The aims of SARA founded in 1973, and with 150 volunteers now is to protect life and property through the provision of a professionally trained specialist rescue service for marine and land incidents.
The 150 volunteers work across four stations along the River Severn. Locally our station is at Arley.
Since 1985 they have been part of Mountain Rescue England and Wales.
Next month’s speakers are Mike and Pat Ledbury, “Morning Dew”, a musical journey.
The competition is a “C” related item and there will be a trading stall. March 10, Mamble Village Hall starting at 2pm.
