President Val Evans welcomed members to the April meeting, and also Brian and Mary Lawrence with Crumble the Labrador.
Brian’s talk “Home on the Range” gave a very interesting insight into the building and development of the Rocket Research Station at Summerfield, Kidderminster and the Testing Station at Postensplains in the heart of the Wyre Forest.
In 1950, it was decided that a private company should take on rocket research, and Brian was employed there as Manager and Designer for over thirty years.
He explained the reasons for testing, to measure the rockets’ performance and to test the safety not only during operation but also in their handling and transportation.
The president reported on the recent Spring Group meeting, hosted by St Michael’s, where the speaker had demonstrated local crafts.
Members were reminded to do their Annual Spring clean in time for the rummage sale being held at Mamble Village Hall on Saturday, May 3, starting at 2pm.
Donated items can be left at the Hall from 12pm on the day.
The AGM and Resolutions meeting will be held at Mamble Village Hall on May 12, starting at 7.30 pm. The competition is an “E” related item.
