Speaker Helen Heeley delighted the audience at the latest meeting with a flower demonstration, showing step by step how to make four unique displays.
The first one in a medium/tall glass vase included white lilies, twigs and palm leaves. The second in a small low pot had very unusual green pom-pom dianthus, tall pink gerbaras and pink/mauve daisy-type flowers.
The third in a metal ‘bucket’ included eucalyptus foliage, green gladioli and a gorgeous spray of pink orchids.
The last arrangement was in a round basket with smaller apricot lilies, super yellow roses and lemon antirrhinums.
Competition winners for ‘An arrangement in a cup and saucer’ were Liz Jinks, Christine Taylor and Sue Potter.
The next meeting will be held on Monday, October 4 when Dawn Nex will talk about the ‘Armish Way of Life – Plain not Fancy’. The competition will be ‘A Souvenir Spoon’.
Any nominations for committee will be required at the October meeting, and Susan Owen will be coming as adviser at the annual meeting in November.
Members were reminded of the Group Luncheon at the Granary on Wednesday, September 29 when there will be a talk on Mary, Queen of Scots.
The group meeting at Hartlebury is on October 11, and the WI annual dinner at the Granary will be held on Tuesday, October 26.
Meetings are held monthly at The Oaks Community Hall, Mustow Green at 7.30pm. Visitors are most welcome and further details can be obtained from secretary, Sue Potter, 01562 630015.
