Yet another week when the weather defeated many teams, But the Ladies County team travelled through the floods to play at Welland, with a late kick off and on an artificial pitch.

Hereford and Worcester Girls and Women's County League
Welland Ladies 2 (2) v Wyre Forest Phoenix 3 (2)
Today saw WFP Ladies County away to Welland. Having had a torrid time of it in the last 3 games we went into this game with a lot more enthusiasm, despite an arduous and long journey through Worcester which was closed due to the weather. Right from the start you could see we were up for it today. We went straight on the attack and we should have been 5 goals to the good within the first 25 mins, but the post and the keeper kept us at bay. 30 minutes in and the first goal was taken brilliantly by Kirsty Roberts to put us in the lead. this lasted all of 30 seconds when a defensive blunder let the Welland's striker hit home. We seemed to go to sleep and within 5 mins conceded again. We stepped up our game and managed to get an equaliser with a second net by Kirsty.
The second half was a hard fought affair with and with us having by far the better chances but we just couldn't take them, and it looked like stalemate. With around 18 mins to go a lovely flowing move created a chance for the returning Sadie Brown to score with her left foot. We continued to hold onto convincingly to the end of the game, with Welland approaching the Phoenix goal on a few times. Final score Welland 2- Wyre forest 3.
A far better performance this week the so well done to everyone for finally taking points away from home, and shrugging off recent disappointments. On the downside injury's were picked up by both Chase Pheysey-Hoban and Stef Lambert, both complaining about pulled hamstrings. Once again our opponents picked Emilia Sinden for the girl of the game.
Next week at home to Drakes Broughton.
