Droitwich Spa Lions 8 v 0 Wyre Forest Phoenix
The Under 17 Played their first game in the M J Thompson Trophy today and it got off to a bad start with Eilidh Shakespeare on her way to hospital before it kicked off! In the first 5 there was a coming together of shin pads in the Phoenix box minutes, resulting in a penalty being awarded, although unclear why, this allowed Droitwich to take the lead. Phoenix were 0-3 down in the first ten minutes but settled to reach Half time. 0-4.
Lions scored again before. Keeper Jodie Fox dived down to a ball as a forward attacked. The girl jumped over Jodie, her momentum made her fall to the ground, and the ref blew for a penalty. A red card for dangerous play was shown to Jodie much to everybody's confusion. The Droitwich team in the spirit of fair play. told the referee that it was not a penalty and refused to take the spot kick. Laura Brennan puts on the goalie gloves and as the ref insisted the penalty stands, the player calmly passed the ball towards Laura for the game to continue. The game was finally played out in a subdued fashion with Droitwich winning out 0-8.
Player of the Match went to Isabella Preece who covered well, got some tackles in without the fear of God and showed some great commitment.

Kenilworth Town 3 (1) v Wyre Forest Phoenix Ladies 6 (6)
WFP Ladies team This fixture was meant to be played at Kenilworth but was reversed to Kidderminster when the pitch was inspected to be unfit to play on. The Ladies were after a bit of respect from the opposition after being knocked out of the cup with 9 players earlier in the season.
This they did on a strong windy day with an emphatic start to the game, scoring 3 goals in 10 minutes, leading 6-1 at Half time and holding out to 6-3 victors by the end of the game. From the whistle WFP Ladies pounced and within 2 minutes Kirsty Jones hit the cross bar with a left footed shot, but 2 minutes later and Vicky Hyde opened the score line heading in to the bottom left after an assist by Bex Meredith. Kenilworth reacted and forced a great save from Keeper Tracy Evans. Kirsty Jones got two goals in two minutes with her first goal neatly slotted to the keepers right and her second taking a slight deflection and sending the keeper the wrong way, to lead 3-0 in 10 minutes. Striking partner Chelsea Mudge was determined to get in on the act and on 15 minutes neatly flicked in to the near post a driving corner provided by Kirsty Roberts. The visitors then put us under some defensive pressure with a series
