After Phoenix's recent run of successful results the tide changed this weekend for those teams which had a game.
Saturday 12 April 2014
Walsall Ladies 6 v 0 Wyre Forest Phoenix
The Under 14 new this was going to be a hard game, especially with only have 10 players and 4 of them were ill. It was going to be impossible, and in the first half we gave them far much time and space. In fact if it wasn't for player of the game Grace Smith the score at half time could of been more at half time than 2-0.
After a good chat at half time the second half was really good, all the players battled so hard and gave everything, but in the last 10 mins Walsall scored 4 goals to make the final score 6-0.
Well done team

West Midlands Regional Women's League Cup
Studley Ladies 4 (1) v Wyre Forest Phoenix 2 (0)
The teams recent run of good results came to an end at this game. It was one of those games that just wouldn’t work for us. We created chance after chance but failed to put the goals away. Studley, however, had a game plan and stuck to it, with the very obvious difference, they put their chances away. Captain and Player of the match Kat Meredith, was superb in rallying the team together when their heads went down,
The referee was shocking, and making no excuses, he missed so much, for both teams and had no control over the game, and was marked accordingly.
Studley were first to score when a long ball over the defence had a midfield player burst through and beat keeper Tracy Evans.
The second half started more positive and within 5 minutes Molly Maguire got on the score sheet to level the game after keeping her composure with just the keeper to beat.
We took the lead 10 minutes later when some great work in midfield found a pass to Kirsty Roberts on the right, who went around her defender and crossed into the box for Chelsea Mudge to head in.
The home team were not going to give up, and were making sure they were getting to the ball first, battled hard and again fired a ball over the defence to finish just like their first. It was a good competitive game, and hats off to the home side who scored two more. They were victors, because they wanted it more than our players.
Our next game is the county cup final on 27th April at Pershore Town FC against Malvern Town who are flying up the table and will be a hard team to beat. But I know we will go to the game with the intention of bringing home the County Cup
