Wyre Forest Phoenix put their kits back on this weekend when they fielded 12 teams in the Hereford and Worcester Female Football Festival 2014. This took place on Sunday at the Areley Kings FC and the club were well represented in all age groups.
The youth teams showed the way for the club with three of the teams reaching their age group Finals, and another reach the Semi-Finals.
First to secure a trophy were the Under 9 team who came out winners, in an all Phoenix Under 10 final, and against club mates, the Under 10 team. A single goal was the difference in the closely contested game. Both teams put in excellent performances to finish first and second in their group, with the Under 9 not losing a game in their journey to the final.
The Under 14 Team also made the final playing some excellent football, and this was a real nail biting affair when the game against Halas Hawkes went to penalties. All was level after the first five penalties but Phoenix came out on top when the 6th penalty went in and Phoenix’s Keeper saved their oppositions shot.
The Under 12 team were just edged out in their semi-final.
All winners and runners up received Trophies from Worcester FA CEO Nicola Trigg.
Well done to all the participating teams for their excellent representation of the club.
